Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Alpine Public School! One of the premier K-8 schools in the state, our district offers the personalization of small educational settings while still affording students and faculty the very finest resources and programing to engage in transferable, authentic learning. With an enrollment of just over 150 students, our school is situated in the picturesque and historical Palisades. Our faculty, staff, and administrative team takes pride in being attentive to our children not just as learners but as whole people. Our district goals and teachers’ individual professional learning reflect this commitment to cultivating in our graduates an understanding of self and character to support the rich, academic content and skills conveyed through our rigorous curricula.
It is with much honor and excitement that I take on my role as Alpine’s principal and I encourage you to explore our webpage to learn about what makes Alpine the truly distinct and convivial place that it is. If you are new to town or will potentially be joining our community, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any questions or to schedule a visit. We will be updating our website in the coming months, so do consider visiting it again soon! The Principal page will contain details on our K-4 Student of the Marking Period Program and our 5-8 Merit Points/Disciplinary system, as well as copies of our school's weekly communication and social skills/wellness program.
A life-long Bergen County resident, I grew up in River Edge and currently reside in Montvale. After earning my BA in history and education at Connecticut College (summa cum laude) in 2009, I served the Woodcliff Lake Public Schools teaching middle school social studies and elementary gifted and talented. Following the completion of my MA in educational leadership at Montclair State (summa cum laude) in 2014, I worked as the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction in nearby Haworth. In addition to overseeing the academic program and professional development, this role included the titles of School Testing Coordinator, Anti-Bullying Specialist, as well as handling middle school discipline. Prior to coming to Alpine, I taught Advanced Placement history and government at a private, Quaker college preparatory school on the North Shore of Long Island, a position that also involved curriculum revision and administering a new, flagship entrepreneurial studies program.
In 2020, I began a part-time PhD in the humanities program at Salve Regina University, where I intend to complete a dissertation in the field of political theory on the intersections between social media, populism, and cultural decadence in the US post-2008. A believer in being well-rounded and continuously learning, I have held various part-time jobs including, at various points before and during my career in education, a radio disc jockey and tractor-trailer driver. A significant part of my identity is music; I have been a drummer since elementary school and as such place a personal premium on the benefits of the arts in education.
I look forward to continuing to uphold our shared values of child-centered, caring, and rigorous education that make Alpine the consistently high-performing school it is!
