Dear Parents, Students & Staff,
As your new superintendent, I am honored to be a part of this vibrant school community and welcome everyone back to The Alpine School. Our building and grounds are in beautiful condition as we enter the second year with our new addition. In more good news about the district, the results of last year’s NJASK and PARCC scores are in and once again they place us in the top tier of elementary and middle schools in the state. According to NJ.com, we out-scored all of our neighboring towns in our language arts scores, and we even scored second in our entire region in Algebra 1! In fact, we continue to excel in so many areas as a district, that the online publication, Bergen Mama ranked us #2 overall in Bergen County’s “10 Best Elementary Schools”. We are so proud of our students, staff and supportive families who together continue to maintain excellence in all educational areas. This is due to our teachers’ rigorous and differentiated instruction and their ability to understand how your children learn, as well as your dedication and partnership with our school. We value your support and enthusiasm for learning.
At Back to School Night, I talked about the important relationships you will build this year with your child’s teachers as the key to helping your child become successful and happy in school.
Our district goals help us build on these important relationships as we look to the future as a district. We have a clear focus on education, and on being innovative, as we provide students with opportunities tailored to their abilities and their interests. Specifically, this year’s schedule has been adjusted to include more time for math for our elementary school, while providing our middle schoolers with personal choice enrichment periods such as: Math Intervention, Lighting, Sound, 3-D Printing, Coding, Writers’ Workshop, Math Counts, Science Olympiad, Student Council, Alpine Cares Club, Voice, Jazz Band, Technical Music, and Theater Arts. What great opportunities for our students!
Moreover, in focusing on technology, we will begin to upgrade with new computers and educational software that brings the latest 21st Century Learning to our students while also giving our teachers the tools they need for their instruction. Another key aspect of our goals is to continue to look at our facilities and identify any areas that require upgrades and ongoing maintenance in order to keep our beautiful new space in the best condition.
In closing, here at The Alpine School, we look forward to sharing a productive and successful school year filled with learning. I wish you all the best for an exciting and enriching year!
